Stoics Today: This Week's Lens

Almost nothing that weighs on you depends on you. And what does depend on you, you’re neglecting. This is the lens highlighted this week in Tisbo.

Estoicos hoy, la lente de la semana en Tisbo

Almost nothing that weighs on you depends on you. And what does depend on you, you’re neglecting.

That phrase was repeated by the Stoics two thousand years ago, and it’s the focus of this week’s lens in Tisbo: Stoics Today.

A lens in Tisbo is a way to look at yourself. It doesn’t tell you what’s going to happen or give you advice: it takes what you’ve already been answering and returns it organized from a specific angle. This week’s angle is the most practical there is: what part of this depends on you?

Here’s how it works. You open the lens and, if you’ve been mulling over a decision for days, you lay it on the table. With that and what you’ve been leaving in the app these days, it gives you a short reading: what’s in your hands, what isn’t even if you dedicate hours to it, where you’re overspending, and a question to close. Five minutes. You don’t write. You respond.

When to use it: when you notice you’ve been arguing in your head with someone who isn’t there. When a decision isn’t moving forward because half of its pieces aren’t yours. When your day slips away reviewing things you can’t touch.

This week, you have it highlighted when you open the app, until Saturday: tisbo.app/open/lens/stoics_today

Marcus Aurelius made his distribution every morning, in writing. You just need to respond.
